CARE GUIDE
These are not ordinary materials. Treated well, they will last decades.
Pashmina & Yak wool
Hand wash in tepid water using a specialist wool detergent or a small amount of gentle shampoo. Do not wring or twist — press gently to remove excess water and roll in a clean towel. Lay flat to dry away from direct heat and sunlight.
Do not machine wash. Do not tumble dry. Do not hang — it distorts the shape.
Katan silk and pashmina blend
Hand wash in cool water with a silk-specific detergent. Do not soak. Press between clean towels to remove moisture — never wring. Lay flat to dry. Iron on the lowest setting with a cloth between the iron and the piece.
Storing over summer
Before putting pieces away for the season, make sure they are completely clean and dry. Moths are drawn to natural fibres — especially any trace of wear.
We recommend vacuum sealing, or storing in a breathable bag with cedar balls placed inside. Cedar is a natural moth deterrent that won't damage the fibre.
We will soon be offering our own cedar balls and a specialist treatment to keep your fibres nourished and moth-free — developed specifically for pashmina and yak wool. Sign up to the REIN journal to be the first to know.
General
The finer the fibre, the more it rewards care. These pieces were made slowly and with intention. A little attention at home will honour that.
